刚开始学中医时，我对人体的生理、病理了解不够，对组方的真实意义认识不清，为患者开出处方后总是心存疑虑，期盼疗效，又担心不良反应。因此，我翻来覆去地总结临床经验并探寻理论依据。通过多年的研习和总结，我Z终探索出疾病横行平面表现（辨证）规律、疾病纵行发展（辨证）规律，以及五条通道辨证（其中包括皮肤病的花根辨治）和病因病机辨证（赵氏五大辨治）的新方法。实践证明，这五种新方法的疗效可达 85% 以上，辨证方法可重复应用。我通过舌、脉象分析病情，有些时候甚至不用患者叙述病情，就能推断出大部分证候。因此，求诊患者颇多且复诊率高，有时应接不暇。虽然辛苦，但我心中喜悦，感慨中医学的伟大。
通过 50 余年的从医经历，我体会到中医学是中国的文化宝库，是精华。我们不但要继承，更重要的是力争开拓和发展，使中医学更好地在世界上行稳致远。

节 对生病的认识
人生病通常有内因和外因。内因是生病的主导因素，外因是生病的重要条件。外因可影响内因，内因也可创造条件，防止外因干扰。正如《黄帝内经》所说“正气存内，邪不可干”“邪之所凑，其气必虚”之理。
举例说明：一个湖有两个口，一个是进水口，一个是出水口。当通过进水口流入湖内的水与经由出水口流出的水量基本相等，则湖中的水是新鲜的，湖内的动植物是鲜活、旺盛的。当进水口宽大，流入湖内的水太多，而出水口狭窄，由湖内流出的水太少，则湖水越积越多，天长日久，湖内的积水就会发霉变质，湖内的动植物也会死亡。当进水口狭窄，流入湖内的水越来越少，而出水口宽大，流出的水太多，天长日久，湖内水越来越少，湖内的动植物就会因缺水而死。从湖本身而言，这是湖水不受外界因素干扰而发生的湖水和湖中动植物的变化，也是中医学常说的“太过”和“不足”的道理。
大自然的变化（外因）也会影响湖水和湖内生态环境的变化。如气候干旱，湖水会越来越少，湖内的动植物也会因缺水而死亡。如雨水太多，泛滥成灾，湖水不但全满，而且还会溢出湖外，湖内的动植物也会因此而死亡。这是大自然的外因影响了湖水的内因。由此可知，外因可以影响内因，内因经锻炼可更好地适应外因。
人体好像一个湖，湖水就像内环境，湖内的动植物就像人体的脏腑、组织、器官。湖的进水口如同人体的口、鼻、肺，每日承担进食、饮水、呼吸的工作，湖的出水口就像机体的肛肠、肾、膀胱、皮肤、肺等，负责排出体内的废物。当机体进食、饮水、呼吸的总量与从肛肠、肾、膀胱、皮肤、肺排出的粪、尿、汗和呼出的浊气量相等时，就是医学中的新陈代谢平衡（阴阳平衡）。新，即经口、鼻呼吸进入体内的水谷之气和新鲜空气；陈，即从体内排出的废物和呼出的浊气。人体通过每日进食水谷和排出废物，吐故纳新，保持新陈代谢的平衡（阴阳平衡），即健康、无病。当人体进食水谷的总量大于排出的废物总量，人体内就会有过剩的物质积存（太过）。或人体进食水谷总量小于排出的废物总量，人体内就会缺乏物质（不足）。
体内的物质“太过”或“不足”都可成为致病原因，引起体内新陈代谢不平衡（阴阳不平衡），影响或损伤脏腑、器官、组织、细胞的生理功能，发生病理改变，产生各种各样的病证和证候，从而形成疾病。在体内、外，Z常见的“太过”或不足，主要是寒、热、燥、湿。在体外，称为外寒、外热、外燥（阴虚）、外湿。在体内称为内寒、内热、内燥、内湿。这些变化，在临床中既可称为证或证候，又可称为疾病。如高血脂、脂肪肝、动脉硬化、糖尿病、冠状动脉粥样硬化性心脏病（冠心病）、高血压、肾病、肝硬化、痛风、高血钾、荨麻疹、湿疹、银屑病，甚至癥积、肿瘤、癌症等都是由于体内“太过”的积存物质（毒）刺激和损伤造成的。而代谢物质的“不足”，多发生在长期慢性消耗性疾病，如阴虚、气虚、阳虚、血虚等证，糖尿病、甲状腺功能亢进、尿崩症、肿瘤、癌症等疾病。这是人体生病的主要原因。
